Thangs’ Add-on for Blender

Thangs-Blender-Addon is an addition to the Blender model sites and Blender catalogs you already use! You can search, preview, and import Thangs‘ vast variety/quantity of compatible free blender models.

Thangs-Blender-Addon is an open-source community-developed project using the Thangs.com API.

Features

Thangs-Blender-Addon is an integrated search engine for Blender that allows you to search for and import free prebuilt models/meshes so that you can save time in your creative workflow process by not needing to navigate to other Blender model pages and Blender catalogs. Search for models hosted on Thangs in Blender and then direct import your desired model. The viewport displays previews of all the models found on Thangs in the add-on. The addon is meant to help find your desired meshes or models as fast as possible – while being a built-in Blender model site 🙂

Install

• Download and install the prerequisites
  • Blender 2.93 or later. The add-on is known to run with Blender 3.2.0.
• Installation options
  • From a release Zip file (most users)
    • Download the latest release zip file from BLENDER MARKET or GITHUB
    • Do NOT extract the ZIP! (You install it from the ZIP :))
    • Start Blender
    • Choose Edit -> Preferences -> Add-ons -> Install
    • Select the zip file and click Install Add-on
    • Enable the add-on by toggling the checkbox
• Thangs-Blender-Addon is now ready to use (see Usage below!)

Usage

To Search

To search using the addon, open the sidebar/”Tools” tab in the View 3D tab by pressing ‘N’ or clicking the small horizontal arrow in the top right near the RGB XYZ axis spindle, click on the search bar, type something in, and click ‘Enter’! This will load all the models available under your search conditions! To reopen the results, just press enter on the search bar again.

To navigate to Thangs.com and continue your search on our site, click the button in the top right corner of the preview pop-up with our logo. This allows you to use Thangs as a standard Blender model page or Blender catalog!
