Set Camera On Track

Set Camera On Track

Set Camera On Track is an add-on for Blender that streamlines the creation of camera paths to track a series of objects or capture 360-degree views of models. By selecting a camera, a target object, and optionally a target collection, it automates the setup process, allowing for quick and automatic camera motion without extensive manual configuration.

Key features:

  • Target Camera Selection: Specifies the camera to be used for motion; defaults to the only camera in the scene if there is just one.
  • Versatile Target Object Functionality: The target object sets the focus and mode of operation based on its selection and the target collection.
    • Circular Path Around Target Object: If only a target object is selected and the target collection is left blank, the camera moves around the target object in a circular path, always focusing on it.
  • Linear Path Through Target Collection: If both a target object and a target collection are selected, the camera moves over the objects in the collection.
    • Target Object in Collection: Starts from the target object and moves over the remaining objects, focusing on each object’s origin.
      • Target Object not in Collection: Starts from the first object in the collection, with focus determined by the relative positions of the target object and the first object.
  • Target Collection Option: When selected, the camera moves in a linear path to capture all objects in the collection; if left blank, it moves around the target object.
  • Alphabetical Ordering Requirement: Objects in the target collection must be alphabetically numbered in sequence, as the add-on picks objects based on name order.
  • Ignore Child Objects Option: Chooses whether to ignore all child objects in the target collection or include every object present.
  • Smooth Levels Adjustment: Smooths the camera path when it is zigzagged, with values ranging from 0 (no smoothing) to 10.
  • Start Offset & End Offset Settings: Ignores a specified number of objects from the start or end of the collection to synchronize camera speed with animation.
  • Start Frame & End Frame Configuration: Defines the frame numbers for when the camera should start and stop; defaults to the scene’s start and end frames but can be customized.
