The Curve CAD tools addon has a nice feature and that is to perform boolean operations on 2D Curves. We can then use this as base for further modeling. Boolean on 2D Curver can be a convenient way to model a base.
What exactly the name of the addon is, is not clear. On Github it is called Bezier Curve CAD Tools for CNC Milling & Laser Cutting. Once installed in Blender it is called Curve CAD Tools. And on Blenderartists it is also called as on Github. I will use the name as the title shows.
There are way more features in the Curve CAD Tools addon, but one that catched my attention was the boolean operations on 2D Curves. It doesn’t occupy the N-Panel, and it’s easily to find by pressing right-click.
This is best shown in a video and therefore I recorded the video below. Halfway the video I show you also the EV Express addon (my own addon) which was not my intention initially. Probably I am to enthousiastic about the EV Express, my apology, but you can skip that part.
You can download the Curve CAD Tools addon on Github. The addon installs as usual. Download the .zip file on Github. And in Blender go to Edit > Preferences > Addons > Install. Browse to the .zip file you just downloaded and press Install. Then activate the addon, save preferences and refresh. On Github you can also find the full documentation of other features. Some of the features: Circle, Array, Length, Offset Curve, Slice Mesh, Truncate, Rect Macro, Drill macro and more. There are also Export features (.SVG) to find. You can also find more information on Blenderartists.org.
In case you want to share more information about the other features let us know in the comments.
