The Botaniq addon provides you a library of high quality trees and plants. Because an addon is provided to access the library, the library is always easily accessible. All together this makes it a very useful product to have. And because poligoniq offers 33% off until july 14, I decided to hurry up to post here.
Normally I don’t post about products in the higher price-range. For this I want to make an exception and I will explain why. First, the materials of the assets are provided with plausible albedo values. And that means that these assets wil fit and merge well into any HDRI. Not all products…., or I better say it’s quite rare that calibrated albedo values are used. For this Botaniq addon I can say: yes, this is PBR! And not only that albedo values are good, also translucency.
Secondly the assets are modelled well. It fits into an HDRI, and you won’t see it if the asset is part of the HDRI or not. This is quite of exceptional quality. Of all the addons I have there is one more that is fairly good and that is the scatter addon. But many other addons claiming to use pbr materials are not really that PBR. But Botaniq definitely is a good example of PBR!
I know it’s not a blender product in the lower price range and not a free product. And that is the only thing I can think of. So I think this product is most suitable for those who need realistic and high quality plants and trees. For example when you do arch viz, or similar that needs quality assets.
How the Botaniq addon works
The addon is very easy to use and you will understand how to use it in 2 or 3 minutes. It’s really that easy. First you click on the button Spawn Asset and then you will see the following popup:
You see you can filter on Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. And you can select a category. Here I selected deciduous and filtered on Summer and Autum. If you then click ok, the asset will appear on the 3d cursor. By default it is linked, but you can also make it editable if you want.
There are a few extra things in the addon like; Random transform, Snap to ground, Find Missing files and reset transform.
There are to variations of the Botaniq addon: the lite version and the full version. Best is to take a look what is offered at the moment, because I don’t update always my posts.
